IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Veterans Memorial Railroad, Inc., sadly announces that we will not be able to hold the annual Christmas event, “Polar Bear Express” this year due to repairs required for the trestle. It was hoped that the repairs would have been completed in time to prepare for the 2025 Christmas event. Unfortunately, this was not possible. As you may know, VMRR has been providing the Christmas train(s) since 2003, and this year will be only the second time we have cancelled the event. We will continue to post updates after the first of the new year on the progress of the repairs. We look forward to announcing the reopening of the Railroad for families throughout the Panhandle to include Free Public Run Days, Special Reservations, as well as the 2026 “Polar Bear Express.”

There is no charge on public run days, however . . . donations are greatly appreciated.
Public run days: 11am-3pm EST on the 2nd Saturday of the month.
Trains available for public run day include: Red|White|Blue Diesel Replica, and/or No. 59, Steam Replica. We are alternating use of the R|W|B with the No. 59 on Public Run Days.
Children Age 2 and under are admitted FREE to all events.
SPECIAL RESERVATIONS
Call or e-mail VMRR to schedule a special event for you and your family on the Red|White|Blue diesel replica or No. 59, restored steam replica. For a special occasion in cooler months, our Crown Jewel – the coal-fired steam locomotive, is also available for reservations.
Visitors are welcome at any time with prior notification. Members of IBLS, NRHS, NMBRA or any live steam railroad club are always cordially invited to visit. Schools may arrange field trips for students during school hours. Veterans Memorial Park offers picnic pavilions, a playground, and over one mile of walking trails.
