An important item to note especially for visitors that are going to be driving East on Hwy 20 to get to us is that we are in the Eastern Time Zone. We thought that was worth mentioning because many of our repeat visitors come from Panama City, Lynn Haven, Fort Walton, Destin, and Pensacola and they are all in the Central Time Zone. Even just the other side of Trammell Bridge over the Apalachicola River is the City of Blountstown, Florida and they are Central Time.
What could be more special than hosting birthday parties, family reunions, and field trips for students and senior citizens at Veterans Memorial Railroad! Call or e-mail VMRR to schedule a special event for you and your family on the Red|White|Blue diesel replica or No. 59, restored steam replica. For a special occasion in cooler months, our Crown Jewel – the coal-fired steam locomotive, is also available for reservations.
Visitors are welcome at any time with prior notification. Members of IBLS, NRHS, NMBRA or any live steam railroad club are always cordially invited to visit. Schools may arrange field trips for students during school hours. Veterans Memorial Park offers picnic pavilions, playground and over one mile of walking trails.

What is a Free Public Run Day? Let’s break it down for you. We have Public Run Days (open to all), Special Fund Raising Events (open to all), and Special Reservation Events (invitation only). For now, let’s talk about our public run days.
Public run days are 11am-3pm EST on the Second Saturday of most months.
The trains we use include our Red|White|Blue Diesel Replica, and/or No. 59, Steam Replica. We are alternating use of the R|W|B with the No. 59 on Public Run Days. It is completely FREE to come visit and ride the train at these events. We are a registered 501c3 organization and donations are greatly appreciated.
This our first run since Hurricane Michael shut us down last year right before our biggest fundraising events, the “Ghost Train” and “The Polar Bear Express”. Though we had a LOT of damage from that storm Liberty County Recreation Department, many volunteers, and some exceptional pricing for the many big and small jobs that needed to be done by local contractors have helped us get this far.
While our Free Public Run Day’s are definitely free to attend and ride, donations are gratefully accepted. Veterans Memorial Railroad, Inc is a Not for Profit, 501c3 tax-exempt organization.
We will be open for Six (6) nights – December 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 22 with only the two non-steam trains running, NO. 59 and the Red/White/Blue. Time: 6:00 – 10:00 P.M. Eastern Time. The schedule for RESERVATIONS will be posted on the website by October 1ST. $10.00 per person (children under 2 FREE).

This is a sad time for us all, our community was severely impacted. VMRR greatly appreciates those who were able to donate this year’s event ticket charges in lieu of a refund to help recover losses resulting from the extensive damage to our tracks. If you would like to contribute to VMRR, please call 850-643-6646. VMRR is a volunteer organization, we sincerely appreciate your support and are working to be able to reopen in 2019.
